we know the story. this is pretty neat to see it done with marionettes. ande get to use a full set all of the characters are marionettes. there are three goats, the troll, and a bird. >> i love this. this takes a lot of skill. it takes a lot of hand strength. >> upper arm strength to hold it. they get heavy after a while. >> they are beautiful. it takes skill to design them. >> the heads are made from clay. then we make the costumes. then we have to figure out how to make them work. you are holding the control in your hand. there are a lot of strings that come down to the puppet.

sameer-wise, it is the pattern we have had the last couple of days, warm and dry. 60 in parkton. we are forecasting high temperatures in the mid 80's this afternoon. the dew points right now are in the 50's. that will feel rather comfortable even though it is going to be warm. there could be some fog in some neighborhoods. high pressure is anchored off the mid-atlantic coast. there'll be a lot of snow in wyoming. some of that can move into north and south dakota. we will have summer temperatures on the east coast. not a lot to talk about other than the temperatures. we have a few clouds in the mountains.

early morning shooting. officers responded to twin lakes jive in calverton where they heard a woman screaming. officer saw a man running from the area. police said an officer shot and killed the suspect. no officers were injured. >> police are determining if these three women are responsible for any other robberies in the area. police say the woman robbed a bank on eastern boulevard last sunday. trying to learn more about the past of this man. he was arrested on assault and theft charges. committedieve he has a series of violent crimes. >> 6:31. time for traffic and weather together on the 1's. >> the temperatures are going to

a live picture shows southbound traffic pretty heavy down towards that accident scene. expect that to get worse until they are able to clear up to the shoulder. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> the government is still shut down. >> there are some problems in annapolis. >> jennifer franciotti is live this morning. >> good morning. we are just now learning how widespread the impact of the government shutdown really is. the u.s. military has suspended all intercollegiate sports activities. that could force the cancellation of the navy-air force game this weekend in annapolis. the navy kept practicing yesterday. a decision is not expected until thursday.

from athletics to academics, the naval academy has had to furlough 935 people. many of them become more than half of the faculty. and unknown number of classes are right now without instructors. >> we can use military instructors that are resident here to cover those classes this week. we anticipate there'll be some classes we have to cancel as a result of the shutdown. >> he is in a unique position. he is a dual status worker who was furloughed during the sequester and now faces the shutdown. >> really just received a full paycheck about two weeks ago. and now this. yes. it is a little frustrating. we understand it is not the agency but congress trying to do what congress does.

these puppets are about as complicated as it gets. >> some of them can be complicated and some can be simple. >> tell us how it works. >> you have the puppet itself, which is the leopard. it is built to move -- each j oint is cut to move. once the puppet is painted, a lot of strings are attached to different parts of the puppets. those strings come up to these black things that we call the control. that is a system of levers that come across. there is a string at the end of the lever. when i lived the string, the different -- when i lift the string, the different legs move. >> even the tail is just

on us. you say you have amazing video later. >> amazing video. you'll want to stay tuned for this. >> he'll show you next week. let's start with the suspicious packages that lead to tense moments at the jacksonville international airport. kerry sanders is there for us this morning. what happened. >> well it is now confirmed by the jacksonville sheriff's office that one man is in custody. he has been arrested. the charges against him at this hour. planes that were in the air were first told to go into a holding pattern and those flights were diverted to nearby airports. the flights that were on the ground here, passengers, as the planes moved away from the terminals passengers had to deplane and come down and depart and make their way back. they spent the night at hotels. according to the local authorities a man that was here

and made some sort of verbal threat. a man who is known to the fbi. the fbi and the joint terrorism task force are now investigating the details of what happened here last night. >> reporter: i pulled up and they said there's a bomb threat. >> everybody started running to get up. >> reporter: tense moments at jacksonville international airport. shutdown by police because of two suspicious packages. >> a lot of people started ducking behind where the packages go. >> reporter: the airport was evacuated when a bomb squad found one package in the terminal and another in a nearby parking garage. the airport tweeting details about the incident in real time. jso bomb squad on site conducting their investigation. currently no in bound or outbound flights. >> it was a device that had some destructive nature to the degree that it needed to be taken off site to be rendered safe which is what we did.
